The Archdiocese of Nassau has officially announced the convocation of an Archdiocesan Assembly, scheduled to take place from January 25–28, 2027, at Loyola Hall. The announcement was made in a pastoral letter dated February 20, 2026, issued by Archbishop Most Rev. Patrick C. Pinder, S.T.D.
The Assembly forms part of the Church’s ongoing commitment to deepen the culture of synodality, a global process that encourages greater participation, dialogue and communal discernment in the life and mission of the Church. The Archdiocese has already engaged in this journey, culminating in the preparation of a Synthesis Report in May 2022.
In preparation for the Assembly, the Archdiocese has also been renewing and reactivating its consultative bodies at both the archdiocesan and parish levels, in keeping with the requirements of Canon Law. The renewed Archdiocesan Pastoral Council has been appointed to serve as the Preparatory Commission, tasked with developing an Assembly Directory for approval. This document will outline participant composition, procedural norms and other key elements for the conduct of the Assembly.
The theme of the Assembly, “Walking together in the Light of the Lord,” reflects the synodal call for unity, shared responsibility and mission within the local Church.
Archbishop Pinder has invited the faithful to pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit throughout the preparation process, expressing hope that the Assembly will strengthen collaboration, renew pastoral vision and foster deeper communion across the Archdiocese.
