Just about 500 catechists from dioceses across the Caribbean came together online on 5th September 2026 for the AEC Catechetical Commission Meeting under the theme:
✨ Renewed by Christ: Renewing the Church through Missionary Discipleship ✨
The session featured a powerful presentation by Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon on “The Descent of the Kerygma,” reminding participants that the heart of our faith—Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again—must not simply be taught, but deeply lived.
Through prayer, reflection, sharing and collaboration, catechists explored how daily prayer, sacrifice, forgiveness and the Paschal Mystery can transform faith formation, renew the Church and impact society.
Together, we continue the mission of forming missionary disciples who know Christ, encounter Christ and live Christ. 🙏✨

The feedback shows that the session was very well received and deeply impactful. Participants were especially challenged by the call for catechists to move beyond religious instruction towards authentic faith formation rooted in personal encounter with Christ. The strongest practical concerns centred around the need for deeper catechist formation, greater parental involvement and support, and continued opportunities to engage with the material.
