The Permanent Board of the Antilles Episcopal Conference will be meeting in the Archdiocese of Port of Spain from the 8th-9th January, 2025.
The Permanent Board is composed of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, the Metropolitan Archbishops and two members elected in the Plenary Meetings. Of the two elected members, one shall be either the Bishop of Paramaribo or the Bishop of Willemstad, and the other shall be elected from the Conference membership at large. The President will convoke the Permanent Board as often as necessary, but generally there should be at least two meetings a year. It is the responsibility of the Permanent Board to continue the work of the Conference between Plenary Meetings, furthering the execution of projects, implementing Conference decisions, preparing the agenda for the Plenary Assembly and supervising the work of the General Secretariat (cf. Canon 457). The Permanent Board is a purely administrative body and cannot be delegated decision–making authority for the Conference.
Present at this year’s Permanent Board will be Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon, (President), Bishop John Persaud (Vice President), Bishop Robert Llanos (Treasurer), Archbishop Kenneth Richards (Archbishop of Kingston, Jamaica), Archbishop David Macaire (Archbishop of Fort-de-France, Martinique), Archbishop Gabriel Malzaire, (Archbishop of Castries, St. Lucia), Bishop Karel Choeenie (Bishop of Paramaribo, Suriname), Bishop Alain Ransay (Bishop of Cayenne, French Guiana), Fr. Donald Chambers (General Secretary of the AEC) and Fr. Peter McIsaac.
The Bishops have asked the faithful to pray for the success of this meeting.
