The parish of St. Benedict’s had much reason to rejoice on Sunday, November 3, as they welcomed their new parish priest Fr. Kevin Murray.
Since May, 2018, following the sudden illness of Fr. Andrew Roache, the parish has been without a resident priest.
On Sunday, November 3, Bishop County installed Fr. Kevin as the new parish priest of St. Benedict’s Parish at a Mass attended by members of the three missions at St. Joseph’s church in Bellevue.
Fr. Kevin was born in Baltimore, USA and has been a priest for 33 years. He belongs to the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer commonly known as the Redemptorists and has spent the last eight years in St. Lucia. Fr. Kevin shared with the congregation that Bishop County was the first bishop to respond to a letter sent by his congregation to several bishops in the Caribbean. After a meeting with the superior and the bishop it was agreed upon that Fr. Kevin would be assigned to the Diocese of Kingstown. He arrived in St. Vincent on October 31 via speedboat from St. Lucia accompanied by Bro. Gerard St. Hillaire and Mr. Lambert Charlemagne.
Fr. Kevin urged the parishioners to pray continuously for vocations and to make it a priority.
We are happy to welcome Fr. Kevin and Bro. Gerard to our diocese and to assure them of our prayerful support!
