“There is an Antilles Episcopal Conference Annual Plenary Meeting every year where different countries will participate. Monseigneur Luis Antonio Secco, Bishop of Willemstad, explains that this is usually done in different countries that are part of the conference, which consists of 17 dioceses and archdioceses.
This year it is the turn of the Willemstad diocese. Due to the fact that another diocese had to cancel due to the bishop’s poor health, they requested to come to the Willemstad diocese.
Monsignor’s thought of traveling to a beautiful island called Aruba, which is part of the six islands of the Willemstad diocese.
Father Andres was called and it was decided that the bishop’s conference would take place in Aruba. They felt that participating and taking the lead of the conference in Aruba will be a challenge, but thanks to the cooperation of the media, particularly those who provided material and places to stay, the deal that Aruba makes with tourists, but in this case, the representatives of the diocese of the conference, became a reality.
Monsignor Secco thanked everyone because there were significant expenses for the hotel, food and drinks, travel, and activities, but everything is going very well.
Monsignor Secco explained that this conference is for the small islands in the Caribbean, which are part of a certain territory.
The delegations will arrive Saturday, and on Sunday, April 23, there will be an opening of the conference with a day of retreat. This means that the bishops will stay in a retreat all day. But in the evening, at 6:00 pm, there will be a beautiful celebration of the Eucharist at the Pro-Cathedral of San Francisco.
